Manchester road closures: nine for motorists to avoid this week

Manchester's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8.30pm July 23 to 6am August 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, A5103 to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 8pm August 4 to 6am August 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 northbound and southbound, between M56 and palatine Road lane closures due to inspection works.

• M60, from 9.30am August 8 to 3.30pm August 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise to A34 southbound, lane closure due to maintenance works.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am October 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A5103, from 9pm August 15 to 6am August 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 1 to 5 lane closures and carriageway closures due to construction works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
