Manchester road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Manchester's motorists will have 14 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 9pm August 24 to 6am September 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 6 - three - A5103 southbound, M60 - Palatine Road lane closure and carriageway closures due to bridge works.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am November 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A5103, from 8.30pm July 23 to 6am November 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, A5103 to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs on behalf of National Highways.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm August 30 to 6am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise M66 to J25 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M56, from 8.30pm August 30 to 5am September 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J4 to J2 - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M56, from 8.30pm September 1 to 5am September 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J3 to J3 - carriageway closure for temporary barriers.

• M56, from 8pm September 5 to 6am September 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J3 to J1 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 9pm September 5 to 6am September 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 4 to junction 5 - Lane closure for Structure - New/Reconstruction.

• A556, from 9pm September 7 to 5am September 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A556 northbound and southbound, lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm September 12 to 5am September 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to junction 3 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 9pm September 12 to 5am September 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 6 slip road closure due to inspections/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
