Manchester road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Manchester's motorists will have 13 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And 12 of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm December 3 to 5am December 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 19 - 18 lane closures and slip road closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm November 14 2023 to 6am February 17 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to 3 - lane closures and slip road closure for signs - erection on behalf of National Highways.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A5103, from 8pm December 4 to 6am December 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions J3 to J6 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm December 4 to 5am December 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 18 - 21 lane closures and carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8.30pm December 5 to 5am December 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 22 to junction 19 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• A663, from 8.30pm December 6 to 5am December 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to junction 22 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M60, from 8.30pm December 7 to 5am December 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 23 to junction 21 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M56, from 9pm December 7 to 5am December 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions J4 to J5 - lane closure for white lining/road markings on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 9pm December 10 to 5am December 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise junction23 to 21 - carriageway closure for white lining/road markings on behalf of National Highways.

• A5103, from 9pm December 11 to 5am December 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 2 to junction 8 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• M60, from 9pm December 13 to 5am December 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J21 to J23 - lane closure for white lining/road markings on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 9pm December 14 to 5am December 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 5 - lane closure for electrical works.

• M56, from 9pm December 18 to 5am December 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions J4 to J5 - lane closure for white lining/road markings on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
