Manchester's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Manchester's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M56, from 9pm August 20 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

M60, from 9pm August 15 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 19 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

M56, from 9pm August 17 to 5am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J5 to J5 - lane closure for signs - erection.

A5103, from 9am August 18 to 6am October 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 to 4 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

A5103, from 8pm July 31 to 5am October 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 both directions M56 to A5103 - lane closure for drainage.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A5103, from 9pm October 2 to 5am October 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3A to junction 2 - lane closure and carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

M60, from 9pm October 5 to 5am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 5 - lane closure for signs - maintenance.

A5103, from 8.30pm October 6 to 5am October 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 both directions M56 to Mersey Crescent - carriageway closure for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
