Manchester road closures: almost two dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Manchester's motorists will have 22 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And 15 of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 14 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8.30pm March 12 to 5am March 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 1 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M60, from 8pm March 7 to 5am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to 3 lane closures and slip road closure due to barrier repairs.

• M60, from 8pm January 28 to 5am April 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise A34 NB to M60, junction 3 CW access slip - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M60, from 9pm January 28 to 5am April 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise J21 to J22 - carriageway closure for Construction - Bridge/Structure.

• M60, from 9pm March 1 to 5am April 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise A34 J3 to M60 CW and ACW - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M60, from 5am March 1 to 5am April 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 3 entry slip road lane closures due to barrier repairs.

• M60, from 8pm December 20 2021 to 5am April 9 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to 3 lane closures and slip road closure due to barrier repairs.

• M56, from 8.30pm February 27 to 6am April 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 - three lane closures and slip road closures due to barrier repairs.

• M56, from 8.30pm December 13 2021 to 6am April 9 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 - three lane closures and slip road closures due to barrier repairs.

• A5103, from 9pm January 1 to 11pm May 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Manchester City Embargo - two hours before game.

• A5103, from midday, January 1 to 11pm May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Manchester City Embargo = two hours after game.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• M56, from 8pm March 15 to 5am March 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 2 exit slip road lane closure due to signage stickers.

• M60, from 8pm March 17 to 5am March 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise 24 - 26 lane closures and mainline closures due to resurfacing.

• M56, from 8pm March 19 to 6am March 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J1 to J4 - Lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm March 19 to 6am March 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise, junction 1 - 27 lane closures and slip road closure due to road markings.

• M60, from 8pm March 26 to 6am March 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 21 to 18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm March 27 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M56, from 9pm March 28 to 5am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 1 to M60 Anticlockwise, junction 2 - carriageway closure for barriers.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
