Manchester road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Manchester's motorists will have 10 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 8pm December 9 to 5am December 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 3 to junction 2 - lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• A5103, from 9pm November 14 to 6am December 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise j24 to J5 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 2022 to 5am January 28 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 9pm December 14 to 6am December 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J5 to J8 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 9pm December 14 to 6am December 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise jct two - four and M56 westbound, jct one - three westbound, lane closures and carriageway closures due to bridge inspections.

• M60, from 11pm December 15 to 6am December 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 5 slip road lane closure due to inspection/surveys.

• M60, from 9pm December 17 to 5am December 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 2 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for barriers.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
