Manchester road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Manchester's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 8pm January 30 to 6am February 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions M60 J2 to M56 - lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M60, from 8pm January 26 to 6am February 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J19 to J19 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 2022 to 5am February 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A5103, from 9.30am February 5 to 3.30pm February 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 northbound, works on footway at rear of 26 Parkwood Drive due to insulation of joint flow stop.

• A5103, from 8pm January 23 to 7am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions A5103 (A560 Altrincham Rd) to M56 Sharston Link - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M56, from 8pm February 6 to 6am March 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3a to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M60, from 8pm February 6 to 6am February 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J20 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• M60, from 8pm February 7 to 3am February 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 22 exit slip road lane closure due to maintenance works.

• M56, from 8pm February 10 to 6am February 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 2 to junction 4 - lane closure for barrier works.

• M60, from 8.30pm February 10 to 5am February 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anticlockwise jct 22 - 21 lane closures and slip road closure due to drainage works.

• M56, from 8pm February 18 to 6am March 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, jct six - three lane closures due to barrier scheme.

• A5103, from 9pm February 20 to 5am February 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound and southbound, Mersey Crescent to M56 - Lane closure and carriageway closure for signs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
