GP Rankings: The top 10 GP practices in Greater Manchester

The annual survey saw around 760,000 patients complete a questionnaire asking about their experiences with the local GP surgery.

The NHS England figures showed overall satisfaction in GPs across England fell to its lowest level since the survey began in 2018, with 71.3% of patients rating the service as "good" or "very good" in 2023 – down from 72.4% in 2022.

But where are the highest-rated GP practices in Greater Manchester?

We ranked the top 10 in the area by the percentage of people who rated the service as good or very good, excluding those with fewer than 100 responses.

1. Marple Bridge Surgery

Of the 129 people who responded to the GP survey, 99.4% described their overall experience of Marple Bridge Surgery as "good" or "very good".

Some 93.5% said the practice was very good, while 5.9% said it was good. No one said the service was poor or very poor.

2. Milnrow Village Practice

Coming in second was Milnrow Village Practice, where 84.5% of 105 people said their experience at the practice was very good, and 13.5% described it as good.

It meant the practice was rated at least good by 98% of patients, making it the second-highest rated practice in Greater Manchester.

3. Hawkley Brook Medical Practice, and Riddings Family Health Centre

Hawkley Brook Medical Practice and Riddings Family Health Centre came in joint-third with a score of 97.9%.

However, slightly more patients rated Riddings Family Health Centre as very good (79.9%) than Hawkley Brook Medical Practice (72.4%).

5. High Lane Medical Centre, and Village Surgery

Rounding out the top five GP practices in Greater Manchester were High Lane Medical Centre, and Village Surgery.

Some 96.5% said their experience at these practices was either good or very good.

While this included 76.6% saying Village Surgery was "very good", the highest grade on the survey, this rose to 91.1% for High Lane Medical Centre.

7. Zaman

At seventh place in the rankings was Zaman.

Patients' experience at the practice was rated as good or very good by 96.1% of the 126 respondents to the GP survey.

Of those, 83.4% rated it as very good.

8. Pennine Surgery

Pennine Surgery lands at eighth in Greater Manchester.

This is thanks to 95.8% of patients at the practice describing their overall experience there as good or very good.

Of them, 77% said the service was very good, while 18.8% described it as good.

9. Premier Health Team

Coming it at ninth in the rankings is Premier Health Team.

Some 95.6% of the 125 patients who responded to the GP survey graded its service as good or very good.

At the other end of the scale, no one said their experience at the practice was very poor.

10. Conway Road Medical Practice

Rounding out the top 10 GP practices in Greater Manchester is Conway Road Medical Practice, which was graded good or very good by 95.3% of patients who responded to the GP survey.

However, no one rated the service as very poor, the lowest possible grade.
