Road closures: more than a dozen for Bury drivers this week

Drivers in and around Bury will have 14 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M62, from 9pm February 21 to 6am March 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 4 - two lane closures and carriageway closures due to barrier works.

• M60, from 9pm March 7 to 6am March 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise, junction 16 - 19 - M62 eastbound and westbound, junction 18 - 19 - M66 northbound and southbound, junction 4 - two lane closures and slip road closures due to improvements.

• M62, from 8pm March 13 to 6am March 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, J20 to J18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• A56, from 9pm February 27 to 5am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 0 - two lane closures and slip road closure for drainage.

• M66, from 5am March 12 to 5am May 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 4 - three narrow lanes and speed limit due to barrier scheme.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M66, from 9pm March 14 to 5am March 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 2 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 8pm March 16 to 6am March 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J18 to J16 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A56, from 8pm March 16 to 5am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, A56 to junction 1 carriageway closure for drainage works.

• M60, from 9pm March 16 to 6am August 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 4 - three lane closures and carriageway closures due to barrier scheme.

• M60, from 8pm March 18 to 6am March 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J17 to J16 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M66, from 8pm March 21 to 6am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, J0 to J2 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 8pm March 26 to 6am March 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 21 to 18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm March 27 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm March 28 to 6am April 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise, junction 16 - 20 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvements.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
