Road closures: five for Bury drivers this week

Drivers in and around Bury will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Bury will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A56, from 9pm October 17 to 6am December 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A56 northbound and southbound, M66 j1 to Bent Gate - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

M60, from 9pm October 24 2022 to 6am February 11 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 17 to junction 18 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

M60, from 8.30pm December 19 to 5am December 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 16 to junction 17 - lane closure for barriers.

M60, from 8.30pm December 19 to 5am December 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 17 to junction 16 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

M60, from 9pm December 19 to 5am December 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
