Road closures: five for Bury drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Bury will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 8pm February 17 to 6am July 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A56 northbound and southbound, M66, junction 1 to Bent Gate - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M60, from 9pm June 26 to 5am July 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J19 - lane closure for drainage.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M66, from 8pm July 5 to 5am July 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 - lane closure for horticulture.

• M66, from 8pm July 6 to 5am July 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 4 to junction 2 - lane closure for horticulture.

• M66, from 8pm July 7 to 5am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, jct two exit slip road lane closure due to maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
