Road closures: almost a dozen for Bury drivers this week

Drivers in and around Bury will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Bury will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A56, from 9pm October 17 to 6am December 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A56 northbound and southbound, M66 j1 to Bent Gate - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

M60, from 9pm October 24 2022 to 6am February 11 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 17 to junction 18 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

M66, from 8.30pm November 14 to 5.30am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 1 to A56 Bent Gate - lane closure for barriers.

M60, from 9pm November 14 to 6am November 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J19 to entry slip - carriageway closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

M60, from 11pm November 14 to 5am November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 16 to junction 18 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

M60, from 9pm November 15 to 5am November 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 18 to junction 16 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
