Road closures: almost a dozen for Bury drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Bury will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 10 closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 9pm October 9 to 6am October 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound, jct four to 3 - M60 lane closures and carriageway reconstruction.

• A56, from 9pm October 16 to 5am October 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - one lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• A56, from 9pm October 17 to 5am October 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8.30pm October 18 to 5am December 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 both directions J18 to J16 - lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A56, from 9pm October 18 to 5am October 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• A56, from 9pm October 19 to 5am October 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 2 to 1 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M60, from 9pm October 19 to 5am November 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 eastbound, junction 18 to 19 - Lane closure and slip road closures for communications.

• M66, from 9pm October 20 to 5am October 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 both directions, junction 2 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• M66, from 9pm October 21 to 5am October 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, jct three - two lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm October 23 to 5am October 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 17 - 18 - M66 northbound, jct three - two lane closures and carriageway closures.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
