Bury road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bury's motorists will have 14 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 9pm February 27 to 5am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 0 - two lane closures and slip road closure for drainage.

• M60, from 8pm March 27 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J18 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• A56, from 8pm March 16 to 5am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, A56 to junction 1 carriageway closure for drainage works.

• M66, from 5am March 12 to 5am May 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 4 - three narrow lanes and speed limit due to barrier scheme.

And a further 10 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 9pm March 28 to 7am March 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 4 - three lane closures and carriageway closures due to barrier scheme.

• M60, from 8pm March 29 to 6am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 19 - 18 Lane closure for communication works.

• M66, from 8.30pm March 29 to 5am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 3 to junction 3 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M66, from 8.30pm March 30 to 5am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 2 to junction 4 - Lane closure for Litter Clearance.

• M60, from 8pm March 31 to 6am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J17 to J16 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M66, from 10pm March 31 to 5am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 3 to 4 - Lane closure for signs - Erection.

• M60, from 9pm April 1 to 6am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 17 exit slip road closure due to Structure maintenance.

• A56, from 9pm April 4 to 5am April 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, J1 to A56 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 9pm April 4 to 5am April 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 westbound, junction 19 to M60B, junction 17 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 9pm April 11 to 6am April 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, J21 to J18 - Lane closure and slip road closure for inspection/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
