Bury road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bury's motorists will have 15 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm January 23 to 5am January 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 18 - carriageway closure for signs - Erection.

• M60, from 9pm January 17 to 7am February 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 18 - 16 lane closures and slip road closures due to drainage works.

• M66, from 5am January 6 to 5am February 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 1 southbound, lane one closure due to drainage works.

And a further 12 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A56, from 8pm January 24 to 5am January 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 2 to A56 carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M62, from 8pm January 24 to 6am February 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, junction 18 to junction 20 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• A56, from 8pm January 24 to 6am April 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 4 - 0 lane closures carriageway closures due to lining works.

• A56, from 9pm January 24 to 6am February 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 0 to M66, junction 2 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M66, from 9pm January 24 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, J2 to J1 - Lane closure for drainage works.

• A56, from 8pm January 27 to 5am January 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 2 to A56 carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 9pm January 28 to 5am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 16 to 17 - carriageway closure for barriers - Permanent.

• M60, from 9pm January 29 to 5am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, junction 19 to M60, junction 16 lane closures due to barrier repairs.

• M66, from 7pm February 1 to 5am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction 2 exit slip road lane closure due to signage.

• M60, from 8pm February 1 to 6am February 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, junction 18 to 19 - Lane closure for signs - Erection.

• M62, from 9pm February 1 to 5am February 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, junction 3 to 4 - Lane closure for signs - Erection.

• M60, from 8pm February 6 to 6am February 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 westbound, junction 19 - 18 lane closures and slip road closures due to electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
