Bury road closures: eight for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bury's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8pm January 22 to 6am January 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise M66 to J19 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• M66, from 8pm January 22 to 5am January 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 southbound, J3 to J4 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting) on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 9pm January 22 to 5am January 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J19 - lane closures and slip road closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

• M66, from 9pm January 29 to 5am February 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M66 northbound, junction4 to junction 1 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 9pm January 29 to 5am January 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 Simister Island Roundabout carriageway closure on the North side of roundabout.

• M60, from 8pm January 31 to 5am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise J16 to J17 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A56, from 9pm February 2 to 5am February 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm February 5 to 6am February 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J16 to J18 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
