Road closures: nine for Bolton drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Bolton will have nine National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Bolton will have nine National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M61, from 9pm February 10 to 5am February 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

M61, from 8pm November 20 2023 to 5am March 2 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 7 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

And a further seven closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M61, from 8pm February 12 to 6am February 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 6 to junction 6 - lane closure for lha works on behalf of Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.

M61, from 9pm February 12 to 5am February 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, jct three to 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M61, from 8pm February 14 to 5am February 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J4 - lane closure for litter clearance.

M60, from 9pm February 17 to 5am February 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 3 to junction 1 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M61, from 8.30pm February 19 to 5am March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J6 to J5 - lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

M61, from 9pm February 21 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound, J6 to J8 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting) on behalf of National Highways.

M61, from 9pm February 24 to 5am February 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions J4 to J6 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
