Road closures: four for Bolton drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Bolton will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Bolton will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M61, from 8am November 19 to 5pm December 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61southbound, junction 6 to 4 - hard shoulder closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

M61, from 8pm November 20 2023 to 5am February 15 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 7 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M61, from 8pm December 5 to 6am December 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, - carriageway closure for communications.

M61, from 9pm December 15 to 5am December 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting) on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
