Bolton road closures: six for motorists to avoid this week

Bolton's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M61, from 9pm May 15 to 5am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - Lane closure for Horticulture.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

M60, from 8pm May 16 to 5am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, M6 to J1 - carriageway closure for signs - Erection.

M61, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 2 - four lane closures due to maintenance works.

M61, from 9pm May 17 to 5am May 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M61, from 8pm May 20 to 6am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, J6 to J4 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

M61, from 8pm May 30 to 5am May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J3 to J1 - Lane closure for communications.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
