Bolton road closures: seven for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bolton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Bolton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M61, from 8pm November 20 2023 to 5am February 15 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 7 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M61, from 8pm February 5 to 6am February 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J3 - lane closure for communications.

M61, from 9pm February 10 to 5am February 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

M602, from 9pm February 10 to 5am February 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, 11 to 12 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

M61, from 9pm February 12 to 5am February 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, jct three to 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M60, from 9pm February 17 to 5am February 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 3 to junction 1 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M61, from 8.30pm February 19 to 5am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J6 to J5 - lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
