Bolton road closures: seven for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bolton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Bolton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M61, from 8pm January 8 to 6am January 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 6 to junction 6 - lane closure for lha works on behalf of Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.

M61, from 8pm November 20 2023 to 5am February 15 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 7 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M61, from 9pm January 22 to 5am January 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, J3 to J4 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

M65, from 8pm January 23 to 5am January 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M65 eastbound, jct three - four lane closures due to maintenance.

M65, from 9pm January 26 to 5am January 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound, junction 3 to junction 4 - lane closure for barrier/fence safety repairs on behalf of National Highways.

M61, from 10pm January 26 to 5am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J8 to J6 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

M61, from 8pm January 29 to 6am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J3 - lane closure for communications on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
