Bolton road closures: seven for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bolton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A580, from 9pm October 30 to 6am November 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M61, from 9pm November 6 to 5am November 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound, six to 6 - lane closure for drainage.

• M61, from 11pm November 6 to 5am November 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions J4 to J3 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf.

• M61, from 9pm November 13 to 5am November 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to junction - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• A580, from 9pm November 13 to 6am November 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M61, from 8pm November 14 to 5am November 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound, J3 to J4 - lane closure for communications.

• M61, from 8pm November 20 2023 to 5am February 15 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions, junction 4 to junction 7 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
