Bolton road closures: nine for motorists to avoid this week

Bolton's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M61, from 9pm May 9 to 5am May 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, J4 to J5 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M61, from 9pm May 14 to 5am May 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to junction - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M61, from 9pm May 15 to 5am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 16 to 5am May 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 18 to 5am May 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M60, from 9pm May 19 to 5am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 20 to 5am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - Lane closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 21 to 6am May 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 2 - four lane closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm May 23 to 5am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 3 to junction 1 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
