Bolton road closures: nine for motorists to avoid this week

Bolton's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M61, from 8pm March 12 to 6am March 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 4 - six lane closures and carriageway closures due to resurfacing.

• M60, from 8pm February 2 to 6am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to 9 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M61, from 8pm March 14 to 6am March 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, J4 to J8 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M61, from 9pm March 14 to 5am March 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 5 - six - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M61, from 9pm March 14 to 5am March 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 5 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 12.45am to 5am on March 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 15 to A666 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• M61, from 9pm March 16 to 5am March 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3 - Lane closure for Litter Clearance.

• M61, from 9pm March 21 to 5am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 5 - four lanes one and two closure due to resurfacing.

• M61, from 8pm March 26 to 6am March 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, J8 to J4 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
