Bolton road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bolton's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And 10 of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M61, from 9pm May 8 to 5am May 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M61, from 9pm May 10 to 5am May 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 11 to 5am May 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 12 to 5am May 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to junction - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M61, from 9pm May 13 to 5am May 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 14 to 5am May 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 9pm May 15 to 5am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - Lane closure for Horticulture.

• M60, from 8pm May 16 to 5am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, M6 to J1 - carriageway closure for signs - Erection.

• M61, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 2 - four lane closures due to maintenance works.

• M61, from 9pm May 17 to 5am May 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M60, from 9pm May 18 to 5am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 3 to junction 1 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M61, from 8pm May 20 to 6am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, J6 to J4 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
