Bolton road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bolton's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Bolton's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M60, from 9pm September 3 to 5am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M602, from 9pm September 2 to 5am September 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, 11 to 12 - lane closure for barriers.

A580, from 9pm August 29 to 6am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

M61, from 9pm September 3 to 5am September 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 both directions J6 to J8 - lane closure for barriers.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A580, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

M60, from 9pm September 5 to 5am September 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, jct three to 1 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

M61, from 9pm September 14 to 5am September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to junction - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
