177 further coronavirus cases and two more deaths recorded in Bolton

The number of coronavirus cases in Bolton increased by 177 in the last 24 hours, official figures show – and two more deaths were recorded.

The number of coronavirus cases in Bolton increased by 177 in the last 24 hours, official figures show – and two more deaths were recorded.

A total of 37,234 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Bolton when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on July 22 (Thursday), up from 37,057 on Wednesday.

The rate of infection in Bolton now stands at 12,949 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average of 8,682.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 39,315 over the period, to 5,602,321.

There were also two more coronavirus deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Bolton.

The dashboard shows 759 people had died in the area by July 22 (Thursday) – up from 757 on Wednesday.

It means there have been two deaths in the past week, which is a decrease on four the previous week.

They were among 18,275 deaths recorded across the North West.

The figures include anyone who died within 28 days of a positive test result for Covid-19, and whose usual residence was in Bolton.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

The figures also show that nearly two-thirds of people in Bolton have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The latest figures show 153,853 people had received both jabs by July 21 (Wednesday) – 63% of those aged 18 and over.

As of today (July 22), this proportion is based on mid-2020 population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Previously, it had been based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

Across England, 69% of people aged 18 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
