Heaton Park is hosting the gruelling obstacle course event Tough Mudder again on 22-23 October.

Brave participants can enter as individuals or groups and choose between the classic 5k course, which has 13 obstacles or the new 10k course, which has 20.

Each of the obstacles – which are designed to test physical and mental endurance, as well as teamwork – has its own appropriately intimidating name, such as Kiss of Mud, an army crawl through mud underneath barbed wire, Arctic Enema, a giant ice bath, and Electroshock Therapy, a dash through 10,000 volts of electricity.

Other challenges include climbing over walls, monkey bars, a smoke chamber and the gauntlet run.

For the first time ever, there will also be water obstacles for contestants to try.

Perfect for newcomers and seasoned pros, this weekend of events is really made for everyone to try, so we welcome all to come down and get involved.

We promise you won’t regret it.”
