Tony Walsh: legendary Manchester performance poet’s one-off autumn gig announced
Award-winning Manchester performance poet Tony Walsh has announced a one-off gig, his only date in the North West so far this autumn.
Tony is best-known for his inspirational ode to Manchester, This is the Place, which was performed live to millions of people at a vigil following the Manchester Arena bomb.

Hide AdTony, aka Longfella, will perform at the Ferret pub in Preston on Thursday, September 30.
The spoken-word legend, a former Glastonbury poet-in-residence, regularly plays to audiences of around 400 in Manchester – so it is thought the intimate Preston gig of under 100 will sell out fast.
Event promoter Garry Cook from enjoyshow.co.uk said: “Performance poetry is not like the poetry some people imagine. People think of poetry they read at school – but performance poetry is like seeing your favourite band in a gig – close up. The atmosphere is electric. People never forget the experience.
“In fact, performance poetry has a long history of music connections, with many poets supporting bands on tour.”
Tickets, which are £11, can be found at Skiddle here.
