Tommy Fury to fight YouTube star KSI at Manchester’s AO Arena- how to get tickets
The fight will be Fury’s first since his defeat of Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia back in February
Manchester-born boxer Tommy Fury has announced a home town show later this year. The 24-year-old will face YouTuber KSI at the AO Arena.
Fury is a popular and upcoming name in the sport, and is also well known by fans of Love Island for his appearance on the show. He is unbeaten in his nine professional fights so far.
The date of the fight has been pencilled in for October 14. This will be the second fight of the year against a Youtuber-turned-boxer for Fury following his win against Jake Paul back in February.
Also fighting at the showcase event is Jake Paul’s brother Logan. His opponent is set to be unveiled in the coming days.
The fight between Fury and Jake Paul back in February was expected to be an easy win for Fury, who is the brother of World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson. However, he didn’t have it all his own way in Saudi Arabia and he only won on a split decision.
Fury has said that the fight will be easy for him, and that he expects to beat KSI within four rounds. In the past he has labelled the Youtubers who turn to the ring as “a bit of a joke" and that he is “used to growing up fighting against proper boxers."
The night will of course see the two owners of the energy drink Prime, KSI and Logan Paul, fighting on the same card. The drink has been a smash hit across the UK and continues to be popular.
The fight in October is being organised by KSI’s ‘Misfits’ label and will be broadcast with channel DAZN. However, the fight will not be officially sanctioned by the British boxing regulator due to KSI not being licensed.
The contest with Tommy Fury will instead be sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association, although it won't count towards either fighter's professional record.
