Spring is finally here, the clocks are moving forward and warmer weather is on its way – which is as good an excuse as any to get out and about in Manchester this weekend. As ever, there is plenty to do in Manchester this weekend, including markets, theatre performances, for both adults and children, and live music. Here are some of the events we are most looking forward to over the next few days.

Hey Duggee Live

Lowry Theatre, 24-26 March

For the first time ever, the hit CBeebies show Hey Duggee is going on tour, coming to the Lowry Theatre this weekend. Duggee, the Squirrels and a whole host of other favourite characters will be there. You can expect lots of music, singing, dancing and puppets from this interactive show. Tickets start at £16 and can be purchased via the theatre’s website.

Manchester Adored

Bowler’s Exhibition Centre, Saturday 25 March

Relive the golden days of the Madchester era this Saturday when Manchester Adored returns to Bowler’s Exhibition Centre. This huge music event showcasing the best of Manchester is spread across four stages: the tribute band arena, the 80s arena, the acid house arena and the Manchester Beer Keller Arena. Remaining tickets are on sale for £27.75 and can be purchased via Skiddle, where you will also find more information about the event.

Ebony Market

Stretford Public Hall, Saturday 25th March, 11-4pm

The Ebony Market returns to Stretford Public Hall this Saturday following a successful first event in November. There will be around 40 stalls, all independent black-owned businesses, selling a whole range of products, including handmade products. Entry is free, but you must book your slot online beforehand. More information can be found on the venue website and tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams opens at the Royal Exchange on Friday and will be showing until 29 April. The play is a comedy drama set in Mississippi and tells the story of the Pollitt family, who are embroiled in an internal battle over who will inherit the family estate. Tickets can be purchased via the theatre’s website and range between £10-40, with some £7 Under 30 tickets and Pay What You Decide tickets also available. Tickets for Banquette seats for £10 are released on Friday 24 March.

London Concertante - Music From The Movies

Manchester Cathedral, Saturday 25 March

Movie-lovers may want to check out this concert, taking place at Manchester Cathedral this weekend. The London Concertante chamber orchestra will be performing compositions of classic film themes and soundtracks, including Star Wars, Mission Impossible, the Godfather and Jurassic Park. More information can be found on the Cathedral website and tickets can be purchased via the London Concertante website. Prices range between £19-42.
