Fields of Gold Festival

Ashton Cricket Club, 2-4 September

Some of the UK’s top tribute acts will be taking to the stage at Ashton Cricket Club for the Fields of Gold festival.

The line-up includes tributes to Oasis (Noasis), Meat Loaf (Peat Loaf) and The Courteneers (The Courtbetweeners) among others, as well as a Peter Kay comedy tribute. Manchester legend Clint Boon will also be hosting and DJing on Saturday.

Weekend tickets are on sale for £65.99, but there are also two-day and day ticket options available. All information can be found on the festival website.

Manchester Psych Festival

Various locations, Manchester city centre, 3 September

A music and art festival that promises to “bring together the strange, the far out, and the open minded” is taking over several venues in the city centre this weekend, with acts including Kurt Vile, The Coral and Gruff Rhys.

The festival hub will be located at Circle Square – renamed Mushroom Fields for the event – where there will also be food and drink vendors, art installations and workshops.

Tickets start at £49.72 and can be purchased on the festival website.

British Art Show

Various locations, Manchester city centre, ends on 4 September

This is the last weekend to check out the British Art Show 9, which has exhibitions at HOME, Manchester Art Gallery, Castlefield Gallery and the Whitworth. The artwork on show explores the themes of social justice, care and healing.

Mrs Doubtfire

Manchester Opera House, 2 Sept – 1 Oct

The musical stage version of the 90s comedy classic opens this Friday at Manchester Opera House. It tells the story of a divorced father who disguises himself as a housekeeper to gain access to his ex-wife’s house and his children.

Tickets for the opening weekend start at £22.50, but the show runs through the whole of September and ticket prices vary. More information can be found at the boxoffice website.

Summer Daze

The Trafford Centre, ends on 4 September

This is also the last weekend to visit Summer Daze at the Trafford. Throughout the summer it has hosted live sporting events, outdoor cinemas, as well as plenty for the kids to do, including fairground rides, a splash pool and an artificial beach.
