Run Media City 5 and 10k: date, route, how to enter and when does the next event take place?

The events take place at the end of each month and take in some of the most iconic areas of Media City

The latest instalment of the Run Media City 5k and 10k events are set to take place at the end of June.

The event is scheduled to take place at various times throughout the year.

Here’s what you need to know about the May edition of the event, including how to enter both races and what the routes are.

When is the next Run Media City event day?

The May race day is due to take place at the end of the month, on Thursday 30 June.

This is the third race day of the year, with the first taking place at the back end of April.

The event takes place on the last Thursday of each month between April and September this year.

The May races take place between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday, 30 May.

What are the routes of the two races?

The route for both races is the same, and takes runners around the Media City area of Salford.

The route is 2.5k, meaning that it will be two laps for 5k runners and four laps for runners taking part in the 10k.

Runners will take part in a 2.5k loop which starts in the Central Piazza (also know as Piazza Stan Ogden) and will then take in the highlights of media city including the BBC studios, The Lowry Theatre, and the Imperial War Museum.

A spokesperson for the race organisers said: “The course is very flat and entirely paved, with two small bridges covering each lap.”

Can I enter the race?

Entry positions are still available for both the 5k and 10k runs in May, and will cost £24. Included in this price is a medal for participating, which is a new design for 2022.

Can I volunteer at the race event?

The event organisers are always on the lookout for support on race days, and information on how you can volunteer to help out is available through the website.

A spokesperson said: “We always value an extra pair of hands and would love for you to come along and help us!

“From managing stalls at the event village to handing out medals at the finish, our volunteers are a critical part of what makes RunThrough events so special!

“If you fancy volunteering with us as a volunteer at this event or any of our other events please click here.”
