We visited The Art of Banksy exhibition on opening day to speak to its curator and find out more about the street artist and political activist.

Over 100 artworks by the anonymous street artist and political activist known as Banksy are now on display in Manchester. The Piazza in MediaCity UK will be home to 145 pieces of art by Banksy - on loan from collectors and buyers - until the new year.

The touring exhibition spent a year in London during the Covid-19 pandemic and is now headed around the UK, with its first stop being Manchester.

Curator and executive producer Michel Boersma said: “Seeing Banksy’s works on the street and all his works on the street is impossible, that’s a journey you can’t take - A - because you can’t pay for it, and B - they are no longer there.

“If you’re interested in Banksy, if you’re interested in street art, if you’re interested in his work, then this is your opportunity.”
