Northern Lights Manchester reveals trail map for debut at Heaton Park - this looks magical

With the first reveal of this year’s trail map and preview of five illuminations, visitors can now start to visualise its scale and plan their festive journey through 16 breathtaking lighting arrangements, synchronised to original soundtracks within the iconic park.

Highlights of Northern Lights Manchester include glowing tunnels, shimmering landscapes, creative projections and magical pathways that promise to deliver an incredible experience for visitors of all ages. The map details how guests can experience an accessible world of awe-inspiring light installations, making it an unmissable event in Manchester this winter.

Each illumination has been designed by the creative teams behind headline installations at Kew Gardens, Netflix premieres and Glastonbury festival.

Highlights at this brand-new event include:

Aurora Rising: One of the standout light illuminations, Aurora Rising is a breathtaking lakeside spectacle featuring hundreds of floating spheres, each individually controlled and perfectly synchronised to music.

Gladioli: A striking and immersive experience made up of 16 grand floral arches stretching across 40 metres, each illuminated with pulsating, multicoloured lights that sweep up and down the structures. This illumination will transform this part of Heaton Park into a vibrant tunnel of colour, creating an intimate and joyful journey.

Mandora Blooms: A magical forest of 80 handmade, internally illuminated flowers suspended between the trees. Inspired by the mystical world of Pandora, each glowing bloom will optically appear to float in the air to create a stunning display.

Buzzing Boulevard of Dreams: A heartwarming and imaginative illumination that brings the creativity of local children to life. Projections of their artwork adorn the pathway, transforming the ground beneath your feet into a vibrant, interactive canvas. This installation invites visitors to stroll through a corridor of light and imagination, celebrating the talent and vision of the park’s youngest artists from Heaton Park and Bowker Vale primary schools.

The Hive at Heaton Park: A breathtaking spectacle that transforms a vast field into a glowing landscape of light. Two thousand silver stems will rise from the ground, each supporting a twinkling bee form that radiates yellow and white light. As the lights flicker and pulse, the bees appear to come alive.
