With the cost of living crisis continuing with no sign of abating residents looking for places to head could be forgiven for keeping a close eye on spending while also looking to enjoy a day out.
Fortunately Greater Manchester is full of interesting places to head for which are free to get into. Having rounded up nine free attractions in and around Manchester city centre, we’ve now put together this selection of places to visit in the rest of the city-region too.
It’s an eclectic mix, from museums telling the fascinating stories of local history to a Tameside attraction taking people back in time in a waterside location. There are also some stunning historical venues where you don’t have to pay to go in, including architectural gems such as Ordsall Hall in Salford and Smithills Hall in Bolton.
