An immersive horror experience is taking place this Halloween at a real-life abandoned asylum just an hour’s drive outside of Manchester.

Newsham Scream Park is taking place at the former Newsham Park Hospital in Liverpool. The Grade II-listed building, opened in 1847, has been many things throughout its history, including an orphanage, asylum, and a nursing home. Today it is a popular spot among ghost hunters, paranormal investigators and those with a penchant for the macabre.

The experience will take guests on a journey through the supposedly haunted corridors of the former asylum featuring a series of terrifying attractions. These include The Orphanage, run by a strict sisterhood of nuns, where you will meet Sister Mary Mercy, who has invoked an ancient evil spirit, which must be appeased.

You can also check out the headquarters of  a secret society known as the Helluminati and attempt to join their network of wealthy individuals, who secretly control the world, helping them doctor ‘the meat’ they obtain from the dark web.

At the Insanitorium, guests can witness the delirium caused by the unethical Invasia Procedure and the mad scientists trying to find out what happens to the soul after death.

If you need a drink to settle your nerves, there will also be a fully licensed bar and food vendors, as well as music, DJs, tarot card readers, mystics, spirit board guides and a host of other curious characters in the courtyard.
