You don’t need an excuse to treat your mum, but that’s exactly what Mother’s Day is for. It is a time to celebrate the most important women in our lives and show them just how thankful we are for everything that they do for us.

This year, the holiday falls on Sunday 19  March and there are plenty of events taking place in Manchester – from painting classes to river cruises. If a card and a bunch of flowers just won’t cut it this year, here are some Mother’s Day deals and events to surprise your mum with this year.

Mums can get a free glass of prosecco or Schloer with their meals this Mother’s Day, as well as a free cupcake to take home. Indian restaurant Zouk recommends their unique roast dinner sharing platter to accompany the bubbly. For £25 per person, you get three roasted meats and all the trimmings and Zouk’s special spicy gravy. If you’re dining with children, they also have a kids version of the roast dinner for £9.95, which comes with an ice cream sundae. There will also be an Instagram-worthy pop-up flower display, where you can take pictures with your mum.

It may not be the Carribean or the Norwegian Fjords, but you can treat your mum to a cruise this Mother’s Day, and you won’t have to travel further than Salford. Manchester Cruises are offering a special Cake and Fizz cruise on Sunday 19 March. The 60-minute cruise sets off from near the Pier 8 restaurant at the Lowry, Salford Quays, and will take you past all the local sites, including Pomona and Old Trafford. The cakes on offer include chocolate cake, carrot cake or Victoria sponge.

Cruises will be departing every 75 minutes throughout the day. Tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children. All bookings must be made in advance via the Manchester River Cruises website.

You can also grab the mic and sing along to your favourite tunes as well.

The Mamma Mia Bottomless Supper will take place on Friday 17 March, between 7-9pm. Bookings must be made online in advance and cost £42.95. You will be asked to pay a deposit when booking, which is redeemable if you cancel more than 72 hours before the event.
