Manchester is a city which is renowned for its love of sport. Aside from the two iconic football teams, you’ve got an international standard cricket ground and great county side as well as basketball and netball teams playing at a good level.
You can add into this Manchester Storm, the city’s premier ice hockey team, who have made a strong start to the 2023/24 season. Playing in the Elite Hockey League, The UK’s top tier, they sit top of the league.

Hide AdThe Storm play their home games at Planet Ice in Altrincham. The matches come thick and fast, with the league season due to finish in April.
There are also plenty of opportunities to get to games, with three more home games on the cards in October. The majority of matches get underway at 7pm on a Saturday, giving plenty of time to get out to Altrincham for what will be a fun night of ice hockey.
Ticket prices for Manchester Storm and how to buy
Adult ticket prices for the 2023/24 season are locked at £23 each. Under 16 tickets are £12 and young adults aged under 21 can get into the venue for £17.

Throughout the season, the Storm will welcome opponents from Cardiff, Belfast, Coventry and many other UK cities. Home games take place midweek and on weekends until around April.

Manchester Storm theme nights
A night at the ice hockey is a bit of a party, and the Storm put on themed nights throughout the season. Next up is on October 27th and a special Halloween night for the visit of Fife Flyers.
Other themed nights are due to take place on New Year’s Day and in January. A double header theme weekend is scheduled for March 9 and 10 when Glasgow Clan and then Guildford Flames come to town.

Hide AdHow to get to Planet Ice Altrincham
If you’ve been convinced to check out a Manchester Storm game, then you’ll need to know how to get to their home. Via public transport, it couldn’t be easier.


Planet Ice is located very close to Altrincham train station. Trains from Manchester Piccadilly take around 25 minutes and run once or twice an hour.
A large car park is located outside Planet Ice. This is available for parking at the venue and is also right next to the train station.
Ice hockey might not be a game you’d think much about, but it is an eventful and fast-paced sport with plenty of dramatic moments. Adding Manchester Storm to your sporting radar will do you no harm whatsoever.
