One of the biggest running events in Manchester has been confirmed for 2025

The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run 2025 will take place on Sunday October 18, and organisers have said it will be bigger and better than ever. The event welcomes runners to take part in either a 10k race or a half marathon.

The event generates a real party atmosphere, with plenty of people lining the streets of Manchester to cheer fans on. The event is welcoming to all, whether you are looking to beat your own records or just run for fun and raise money for charity.

The day before (October 17) will see events take place for children aged between 3 and 15 years of age. The Junior (ages 9-15) and Mini (ages 3-8) events give children the chance to take centre stage – starting on the Manchester Regional Arena track before looping around the Etihad stadium, Minis take on a 1.6km dash and Juniors a 2.5km challenge.

Great Run ambassador, Eilish McColgan said: “To everyone thinking about taking part in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run, whether you’re a new runner, returning to fitness or a seasoned half marathoner – my advice is to sign up NOW. Having a goal to work towards is hugely motivating and will give you that push to train. Let 2025 be the year you find your greatness in Manchester!”

Which Manchester landmarks will runners pass?

Both the 10k and half marathon start on Portland Street and take in city highlights including Old Trafford, the Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays and The Lowry. Half marathon runners make up the miles heading out to the Etihad before the routes combine for a grandstand finish on Deansgate.

The post event celebrations continue with friends and loved ones in the Après Run Zone, with plenty of local food and drink venues nearby.
