The Great Manchester Run will return to the city streets once again this year. Around 30,000 people are expected to take part, with roughly 150,000 set to cheer them on around the route.

Participants will once again be able to choose between the half marathon event or a 10k option. The routes for both are the same for some distance, both heading through Salford Quays and past The Lowry.

What do I get for completing the Great Manchester Run 2024?

For successfully completing the finish line, you'll get a selection of items to remember your effort. You can get a t-shirt, or you can forgo this at the point of entry and instead race organisers will give a donation to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal.

In addition to this and of course the bragging rights of completing the event, you will also get a medal, an official photograph and your time. All of these should be available upon completion of the event.

What have race organisers said?

Paul Foster, Chief Executive of The Great Run Company, said: “The event is famous for its iconic music, buzzing atmosphere, and of course Mancunian spirit in abundance, with some of the best (and loudest!) crowd support anywhere in the world.

“If you’re not signed up yet, with three months to go it’s the perfect time to get started, with a 10k or half marathon challenge to set your sights on.  We’ll be with you every step of the way, from sharing top tips and advice to providing every runner with training plans, and of course we’ll cheer you across the start line and roar you home across the finish. You won’t be disappointed.”
