Jewellers Steven Stone will release clues all next week to find the diamond.

And whoever manages to track it down first will be able to have it set into a piece of jewellery.

How can I find the diamond hidden in Manchester?

Gem hunters will need their wits to be sharp and their grey matter ready if they are to beat their fellow searchers to the prize.

Clues will be issued at midday each day from Monday 1 November until Friday 5 November.

Each day, a new digit of the postcode where it is located will be revealed.

Along with that, there will be a cryptic clue to draw those on the trail closer to the lab-grown diamond.

Finally, on Friday 5 November, those signed up to take part will receive an exclusive email with one final clue.

Treasure hunters should keep their eyes peeled for a Steven Stone gift box, sealed with a pink ribbon, containing instructions on how to claim the prize.

Whoever gets their hands on the diamond can have it set into a piece of jewellery worth up to £600, whether it’s an engagement ring, pendant, or a special Christmas gift for a loved one.

Why is the treasure hunt being held?

Steven Stone, which was established in 1937 and is currently led by Cheshire-born brothers Maxwell and Zack Stone, is holding the treasure hunt to celebrate the opening of its new showroom on the first floor of St John’s Court, not far from Spinningfields.

Creative director Maxwell said: “We are delighted to be opening our new city centre showroom - and what better way to celebrate than to give one lucky person the chance to seek this one-of-a-kind gem.”

How do I take part in the treasure hunt?
