Manchester Half Marathon 2023: full route, finish line cut off and how to check results

The Manchester Half Marathon 2023 takes place in October, and thousands of people will be finishing off their training routines. They will be cheered on by huge numbers of spectators expected to line the streets of the city. 

Race day this year is Sunday October 15, and there are no longer spots available for the half marathon. With the countdown almost over, the full route of the Manchester Half Marathon has been finalised. 

Just like with last year, the start and finish line is by Old Trafford, home of Manchester United FC. The route also sees participants make their way through what is sure to be a lively Manchester city centre. 

The 2023 route does its best to take participants through the beating heart of Manchester. Runners will make their way through Stretford after going through Deansgate and Hulme. They will then head up towards Sale, Sale Moor and pass near to Chorlton-cum-Hardy before getting back to the Old Trafford finish line. 

Road Surfaces for Manchester Half Marathon 2023

Event organisers have warned participants that, due to the route being on roads, there may be an uneven surface. They have told runners to be especially wary of potholes, speed bumps, traffic islands and other structures as well as cycle lane bollards. 

Route cut off time for Manchester Half Marathon 2023

The cut off time for the route is three hours after the last runner has crossed the start line. As roads along the route reopen on a rolling basis, participants will have a minimum pace to keep to. 

There will be a sweep coach at the back of the race which will progress around the course at the minimum speed. If you fall behind this speed then you will get overtaken by the coach. If this happens then we would encourage you to get onto the coach. 

Organisers say that if you do not use the bus, you’ll be asked to move onto pavements to allow the streets to be cleaned. 

How to check results of Manchester Half Marathon 2023

Results of the Manchester Half Marathon will be published on the event website. It's recommended you give around 45 minutes after you cross the finish line for your time to appear.
