The Manchester Half Marathon takes place in October, with thousands of participants taking to the city streets. Thousands more will line the streets to cheer on runners as they make their way past.

In order to keep spectators and participants safe, several roads across Manchester will be closed. Many of these, including Deansgate, will be closed for almost the entire day.

Chester Road and the A5067 will be closed between 6am and 1.30pm, these will be the two main closures in the Old Trafford area. Chester Road past Old Trafford Football Ground will be closed in both directions from 3am until 2.30pm on race day, which is Sunday October 15.

Race organisers have published an interactive map showing all of the roads which will be closed during the event. To view this, visit the Manchester Half Marathon website.

Race organisers and Transport for Greater Manchester both recommended using the Metrolink to get into the city on event day, whether you are watching or partaking. The nearest stop to the start line on Chester Road is Trafford Bar and the finish line on Talbot Road is Old Trafford or Wharfside.

TfGM have warned that all lines – in particular the Altrincham, East Didsbury and Trafford Park Lines – are expected to be much busier than normal throughout the day. For all the latest travel news, visit the TfGM website.
