Canadian Country star Shania Twain left fans saying that DOES impress me much at Manchester's AO Arena as she dazzled during the European leg of her Queen of Me Tour.

The petite singer, 58, cut a stunning figure on stage as she performed in a super short, sparkling pink outfit with hot pink material cascading down from the shoulders and high, glittering pink boots - putting me in mind of a real life, brunette Barbie.

The whole night unleashed a number of surprises - the lady in question kicked off the show by suddenly popping up from under a covered box in the middle of the 20,000 strong audience, wearing what looked like a disguise of huge pink rimmed sunglasses and a raincoat, before being wheeled to the stage, where she launched into the first single from her new album Queen of Me - Waking Up Dreaming.

Later, the singer invited the creator of her amazing pink outfit up onto the stage - a devoted fan from Manchester called Ewan, who even belted out a few lines from his favourite song Life's About To Get Good as he joined her, looking totally star struck.

Then, for a third shocker, the super-star invited a number of VIP fans onto the stage and sweetly took snaps with each of them before one of the fans proposed to his girlfriend - who emotionally said yes, nodding and wiping tears from her eyes as the crowd roared their cheers. Shania then aptly launched into From This Moment On.

Visually, the stage is a feast for the eyes. The technicolour stage backdrop featuring an ever changing, interactive night-time scene with 'Manchester' emblazoned in electric neon above a bar, as we saw the dark, moving silhouettes of people drinking within. At one point the silhouette of a horse galloped past... and then there was the motorbike - a powder pink machine wheeled out onto the stage, before the star sat on it flexing her toned legs into the air impressively.

As the lights went down the audience themselves provided a pretty, twinkling visual - thousands of cowboy and cowgirl hats edged in fairy lights blinking ethereally in the darkness like tiny fireflies.

Musically, Shania pulled out all the stops - performing a host of crowd pleasers from the gentle romance of Still The One to the stomping Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? to old favourites like Don't Be Stupid (You know I Love You) and I'm Gonna Getcha Good! - saving That Don't Impress Me Much and Man! I Feel Like A Woman for the final encore.

For the final hit Shania donned the exact same iconic outfit she wore in her music video 26 years ago, saying that unlike her it had been perfectly preserved.

Well, Shania may be 30 years into her music career, and has battled a number of difficult personal and health challenges, but this age-defying star brought bags of fun, joy and infectious energy on to the stage as if she was just starting out. And as I looked around the packed out arena I could see the warmth and love from her loyal fans, old and new, has clearly not waned a bit in all of that time.

Surely that's something not just Shania but everybody can be impressed with.
