A massive food and drink festival is returning to Heaton Park this summer. And this time there will be even more opportunities to sample local delicacies with their brand-new immersive tasting sessions.
The event will take place on 12-13 August and open to people of all ages, including children. There will be plenty of food and drink vendors for all kinds of foodies, including street food from all around the world, an artisan produce market with over 80 stalls, eight independent bars selling craft ales, wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, which you can enjoy while relaxing in a deckchair.

Some of the region’s best chefs will also be showing the crowds how it is done in the Live Cooking Theatre. The line-up for the demos are yet to be announced.

Entertainment is another exciting aspect of the festival. There will be a live music stage, showcasing local and up-and-coming talent, a roaming comedian and cocktail making classes. The interactive tasting sessions, which are new for 2023, will focus on whiskey, chocolate, cheese and wine.

There are several activities to keep the kids entertained, such as magicians, face painting, a fun fair and other games. The little ones will also have the chance to take part in cooking sessions. Advanced booking for that will be required but is not yet available, so check the festival’s social media pages for more information.
Festival director Michael Johnston said: “It was awesome seeing so many people of all ages enjoying themselves last year. We had lots of food, incredible chef demos, wacky entertainment & live music on stage. This year we’re looking to bring a more immersive, interactive element to the event.”

“Last year proved this is a festival where you can bring all your friends & family to soak up the atmosphere. We’ve something for everyone. Whether it’s getting fully involved in all the live entertainment, mooching round the stalls, or simply lounging on a deckchair, sipping a drink and listening to live music.”
Festival team member Nikki Orrell added: “We’re lucky to have so many incredible food and drink producers in the North. We’re all about celebrating that.”
As in previous years, the festival will also be raising money for local mental health charity Manchester Mind with additional activities. In the past, over £68,000 has been raised at the event.
