Olympic Games Paris 2024: When Greater Manchester athletes will be in action and medal event times

The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris get underway on Friday July 26, and Greater Manchester will be represented as Team GB look to bring a strong haul of medals back from France. 

The games get underway with the opening ceremony at 7pm this Friday, with football, shooting and rugby games getting underway beforehand. The opening ceremony will involve a parade along the River Seine. 

In total, 10,500 athletes from 206 Olympic committees will take part in Paris 2024. 327 of these will represent Team GB. 

With the events set to come thick and fast from the end of July, we’ve gathered together the information on when Greater Manchester athletes will compete at Paris 2024. Hopes will be high that some medals will be brought back to the region next month. 

On athletes where multiple events are listed, we’ve pointed out that these are heats and/ or qualifying rounds. These are all the events the athletes could compete in should they qualify.

• 100 metre butterfly heats- 10am on August 2
• 100 metre butterfly final- 8pm on August 2 

Anthony Harding- Diving

• Men’s Synchronized Springboard- 10am on August 2 

Charlotte Worthington- Cycling 

• Cycling BMX Freestyle quarter finals- 7.20pm on August 1
• Cycling BMX Freestyle semi-finals- 7.15pm onwards on August 2
• Cycling BMX Freestyle final- 8.50pm on August 2

Patrick Brown- Boxing

• Men’s heavyweight round of 16- 11.04am on July 28
• Men’s heavyweight quarter-final- 12.08pm on August 1
• Men’s heavyweight semi-final- 12.08pm on August 4
• Men’s heavyweight final- 9.16pm on August 9

Aimee Pratt- Athletics

• Women’s 3000 metre Steeplechase Round 1- 9.05am on August 4
• Women’s 3000 metre Steeplechase Final- 8.10pm on August 6 

Hannah Kelly- Athletics 

• Women’s 4x400 metre relay Round 1- 9.40am on August 9
• Women’s 4x400 metre relay final- 8.22pm on August 10

Keely Hodgkinson- Athletics

• Women’s 800 metres Round 1- 10.10am on August 3
• Women’s 800 metre Semi-Final- 7.35pm on August 4
• Women’s 800 metre Final- 8.45pm on August 5

How to watch Greater Manchester Olympians at Paris 2024

Coverage of Paris 2024 will be available through BBC channels. On BBC iPlayer a special Olympics Extra will show scheduled events from 8am through to around 11pm.

There will also be live coverage through BBC Radio 5 Live and on the BBC website. A network TV channel will also show coverage of the games.
