Arctic Monkeys are back in Manchester for two nights of great music at Emirates Old Trafford. The Sheffield based rock band last played at the iconic cricket ground in 2007 and will finally make their return to the venue.

The band, who formed in 2002 are most known for their songs Fluorescent Adolescent, Mardy Bum and Do I Wanna Know? across their seven albums. Arctic Monkeys set off on their The Car tour in 2022 to coincide with the release of their latest album The Car.

The band consists of group members Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O’Malley who will all be taking to the stage over the weekend. Arctic Monkeys will perform two nights at Emirates Old Trafford before moving on to Middlesborough.

What time does Arctic Monkeys at Emirates Old Trafford start and who is the supporting act?

According to the Emirates Old Trafford website, gates to the venue will open at 5pm on both Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3. The iconic cricket ground’s website has specified that there are no queuing areas available outside the venue and has asked fans to arrive at 5pm.

Arctic Monkeys will be supported by Swedish rock band The Hives and The Mysterines, a Liverpudlian four-piece. The concert will finish no later than 10.30pm.

Where can I get dropped off at Emirates Old Trafford

Drop off and pick up will be on Chorley Street (for Northbound destinations) or Tesco Superstore on Chester Road (for Southbound destinations).

Emirates Old Trafford Parking

There will not be any on site parking available for the Arctic Monkeys gig. Parking for the event will be available at Manchester United in Car Park N3 and is available to pay via card only at entry.

Travelling to Emirates Old Trafford

If you prefer not to drive to the venue then there are other ways to get to the event. The Metrolink offers trams to the stadium from the city centre on both green and dark blue lines.

Emirates Old Trafford have advised that the trams will be extremely busy on both nights and have advised concert goers to use the Trafford Bar Tram Stop which is less than a mile away from the venue and about a 20 minute walk. On Saturday June 3rd travel will be exceptionally busy with the Arctic Monkeys gig, Coldplay at the Etihad Stadium, Elton John at the AO Arena and the FA Cup Final happening between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Free shuttle buses will be available on June 2 and 3 with an inbound service happening between 3.30pm - 6.30pm from Fairfield St to Talbot Road, with an outbound service running at a 10.30pm departure from Talbot road to Fairfield St. Live transport updates can be found on the Transport for Greater Manchester website.

Are there any road closures for the Arctic Monkey gig?

Four roads will have time road closures during the two nights of the Arctic Monkeys performance at Emirates Old Trafford, they are as following:

  • Talbot Road - 5pm-11.59pm - June 2 & 3
  • Brian Statham Way - 12.01am on June 2 to 11.59pm on June 3
  • Great Stone Road (From Talbot Road to The Quadrant - 9.30pm - 11.59pm - June 2 & 3
  • June Warwick Road - 5pm - 11.59pm - June 2 & 3

The following items are prohibited from entering the Emirates Old Trafford:

  • Any objects or clothing bearing political statements or commercial identification intended for ambush marketing 
  • Umbrellas
  • Large flags
  • Banners
  • Rattles
  • Fireworks
  • Flares
  • Pyrotechnics
  • Air horns
  • Musical instruments
  • Klaxons
  • Smoke canisters
  • Laser pointers
  • Bottles
  • Drinking Glasses
  • Cans
  • Cooking devices
  • Poles
  • Knives
  • Blades and other articles or containers - including any which could or might be used as a weapon - or any other item which in the reasonable opinion of the Lancashire Cricket Club could be used as a weapon or cause nuisance to others.

The venue has said to not bring a bag bigger than A4 size to the event and any bags will be searched. Bags bigger than A4 size will not be allowed into the stadium.
