Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly wants to create a 'Wembley of the North' by building a new Manchester United stadium on land surrounding Old Trafford.

United's home for the last 114 years is in desperate need of updating and bringing Old Trafford up to scratch is one of the major tasks facing the INEOS boss after securing his 25% stake in the club.

Ratcliffe is reported to have set aside £250million for work on the stadium but with that likely to barely scratch the surface one fresh report in The Telegraph says a £1.5billion plan would see a new state-of-the-art stadium built on land next to Old Trafford.
