Where next for Cristiano Ronaldo? Man Utd, Chelsea, the MLS or somewhere else?

A whole host of world football’s biggest clubs have been linked with a move for the man many consider to be the greatest player of all-time.

Not for the first time this summer, Cristiano Ronaldo has hit the headlines as speculation regarding his future at Manchester United continues to rumble on.

The former Real Madrid and Sporting star has impressed during his second spell at Old Trafford and shown his class despite the Red Devils under-performing last season.

The Portuguese legend returned to Manchester to much fanfare last summer and he largely delivered, scoring 24 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions and providing a further three assists for his team-mates.

Despite that impressive return, Ronaldo was unable to inspire his side to any silverware and they had to settle for a place in this season’s Europa League after ending the campaign in sixth place in the Premier League table.

Dreams of Champions League glory were ended by a Round of 16 defeat against Atletico Madrid and paths to domestic silverware were ended by West Ham United in the Carabao Cup and Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

That has led to speculation Ronaldo will look to bring a swift end to his second coming at Old Trafford and it is believed the Portuguese forward has held showdown talks with new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag after belatedly returning to Carrington over the last two days.

But what next for Ronaldo? Where will he begin the new season?
